Sponsored Walk |
| |
| Helping To Raise Money For Our
Troops. |
Dave Cumming, is doing a sponsored walk on April 09/10 2011, in aid of the Household Cavalry and is hoping to raise
1000 quid by walking from Combermere Barracks, the country home of The Household Cavalry in Windsor along the
Thames Tow Path and finishing up at Hyde Park Barracks, Knightsbridge in London, a total distance of forty five
miles and this inaugural 'Annual Household Cavalry Veterans March' will take him two days to complete.
He is in training for this and has been getting up at five am on these dark, cold winter mornings and going for a
long walk every week day before he goes to work and going for an even longer walk on Saturday’s and Sundays since
Christmas. Dave is an ex soldier and has served in The Lifeguards and has spent time in Germany, Norway and Belize
driving tanks around so he knows just what our soldiers are going through at the present time.
The Household Cavalry performs duties in armored reconnaissance and has seen active service in both Iraq and
Afghanistan and in recent years has lost some of its soldiers in conflicts whilst others have been severely injured
whilst serving for our Queen and country. The primary aim of this event is to raise as much money as possible to
assist The Household Cavalry Central Charitable Fund to offer financial assistance to our injured comrades
returning from modern day conflicts. Some of the injuries sustained by the Household Cavalrymen will require a long
term commitment to their rehabilitation. The Household Cavalry is also known for its ceremonial and state duties;
you may have seen them on the television or even been to London and seen them live.
The Household Cavalry Central Charitable Fund is a registered charity that raises money for its soldiers and their
families and Dave and a few others from his regiment are hoping to raise £1000.00 each by completing the grueling
two day forty five mile hike from Windsor to Knightsbridge and would like your support in helping him meet his
target, so please give whatever you can even if it is only a fiver as every little will help our soldiers and keep
our country and the world in peace time.
Please donate by filling in the attached sponsor form or at the Just Giving site;
