How To Make A Back Up CD or DVD Of Your Purchased Products. |
| |
|
You should make a back up CD or DVD of your digital software so that you never lose your
purchased products. |
When you buy digital software from the Internet you will be sent by e-mail a link to a download page that
will enable you to download the installation file so that you are able
to install your product and you will also be sent via e-mail a receipt and a license or
product key that will enable you to use your new software, the number of e-mails will vary depending on the
vendor. When you click on the down load link you will be asked where you want to save the file, the best place for
this is to save it somewhere that will be easy for you to remember where you have put it such as your desktop,
and by that I mean the home screen of your computer, and it is also good practice to make and save it
to a new folder and call the folder the same name of the software that you are downloading so that you
are able to find it when the download has finished, also you should save all the e-mails that the
vendor has sent to you including your receipt, the link to the download page and your product key to this
same folder and also you should convert and save the e-mails as a text file as well just in case in the
future you change your e-mail client so that you will still be able to read the text, different e-mail clients use
different files so one e-mail that reads in one may not read in another. When you have done this and made sure that
you have all the information regarding your purchase in your new folder it is now time to burn the folder to a CD
or DVD using your CD/DVD authoring software, optical drive and a blank disc. To decide on weather to use a CD or
DVD will depend on the size of the folder, if it is too large to fit on a CD, i.e, over 700mb then you will
have use a DVD, when you have burnt your files to your disc just open the folder on the disc to make sure that
all the files are there and make sure that you label it so that you know what is on it, congratulations,
you now have a back up disc of your software should you need it in the future so you can now file it away in a CD
wallet for safe keeping.
